　　2004年9月份以來一直猖狂的“弗朗西絲（Frances）”颶風又給美國肯尼迪航天中心帶來前所未有的重創(chuàng)，航天中心的標志性建筑、525英尺高的巨大發(fā)射塔外層至少有1000塊嵌板被吹落，在發(fā)射塔外層造成了4萬平方英尺的空洞。

　　Monday marked the first time anyone from NASA had seen the damage from the storm because the agency completely evacuated the space center, the first time NASA made such a move.

　　NASA是National Aeronautics and Space Administration的縮寫，代表“美國國家宇航局”。

　　據(jù)悉，在“弗朗西斯”颶風到達前，肯尼迪航天中心撤出了全部14000名工作人員，他們被要求呆在家里。整個中心于上周四被關(guān)閉，這在中心歷史上還是第一次。
