Another deep impression of my university is her creativity and profundity. As is known to all, she has a wide range and comprehensive style. No wonder I can enjoy the multi-ceolored life here. Every school year a diversity of competitions and aetivities are held and a large number of students take active part in them. I do appreciate such a style, and in my mind's eye, she resembles a tall tree silhouetting with all shapes of branches while stretching far into the blue sky.

Undoubtedly there is a world of difference between university and high school. University students are supposed to enjoy more freedom to develop themselves. However, Fudan seems more concerned about the efficient cooperation and teamwork among students as to prepare them for the competitive society. I believe upon graduation I will be equipped with abundant skills to face more unknown challenges.

After all, in my opinion, university is for more cultivated character, richer knowledge and greater abilities. That's why I chose Fudan. She provides me with what I've dreamed of.

Now all kinds of successes are in sight every day, and all I have to do is endeavor for a more beautiful future...

great days to be remembered seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.

i do not have a roman holiday, but i have a non smoking day instead.

today a nc-smoking sign easily hooks up my interesting and rewarding eperience on the world non smoking day a few years

as a high school student, i, together with my friends, volunteered on a campaign to discourage public smoking by persuacling people in public places to etinguish their cigarettes and put the cigarette ends into our metal boes. and we would in return give them a memorial sticker bearing patterns and words voicing the theme of the non smoking day.

the first step is never a fast step. after hunting for quite a while, we set our target on a young man who was enjoying his cigarette at a bus stop. embracing the philosophy of "nothing ventured, nothing gained", we summoned up all our courage, walked up and asked, "sir, would you please not smoke in public places?" "it is none of your business! why are you so busily engaged in such things? go and mind your own eams!" he was great, i believed, for he was able to drag on his cigarette while at the same time not giving his tongue a break. and i further found out that for this man, such words as "good for your health" or "good for common courtesy" had long lost their appeal. maybe such kind of situation should call for some other policy. i managed a smile, blended with sweet words and tried to dilute his resistance. and when we put the sticker on his clothes, he was lingering over the joy of having done us "a big favor."

now you see, maybe flattery should be vindicated, for to please is a great step toward persuading and a smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

our work ran smoothly when things began easy to handle in the afternoon. but don't worry. troubles are just around the corner. the second hard rock we met was a middle aged man who appeared to be more of a smoking addict than a smokingenthusiast. nothing seemed to be capable of etinguishing that cigarette. even the wind seemed to be powerless. we showed him the cigarettes filled metal bo. we spotlighted the hazards of public smoking. but all was in vain.

mark twain was right, habit is habit, not to be flung out of window by anyone, but to be coaed downstairs one step at a time. i then tried to peel the stubborn onion one layer at a time."ok, i know how you feel. but do you know how other people around you feel?" "you see that child? actually he smokes more of your cigarette than you do!" "in fact, you are etinguishing one cell of lung cancer when you etinguish your cigarette. you are etinguishing one cell of the disease of selfishness when you etinguish your cigarette." it is that maybe that constant drops do wear the stone. at last he etinguished our words by etinguishing his cigarette.

as the sinking sun tinted the horizon, we began to count the cigarette ends, savoring our little victories.

that day saw me toiling for 6 hours, inviting loads of troubles, collecting 57 cigarette-ends,savoring hundreds of potential second hand smokers and developing for myself some sense of responsibility toward society.

though it was a little depressing to realize that those people would naturally pick up their "tradition" just where they had temporarily laid it down, yet how far can we estimate our actions would travel! and besides that, i was rewarded in another day.that is, the eperience dawned upon me the significance of care and consideration for other people. since then, i have been as cooperative as possible whenever i am asked to improve my public behavior and i am always ready to get involved in such volunteer work.

in a sense, the highest reward for ones toil is not what they get from it but what they become by it.

  A Petition Letter

  July 7, 20xx

  Dear Madam,

I am writing to inform you that I wish to move into a new room next semester. I would prefer a single room、as I find the present arrangement inconvenient.

I must explain the reasons for my dissatisfaction is my roommates’ inconsiderate behavior. For one thing, their friends are constantly visiting them and they regularly hold noisy parties. For another, they sometimes use my things without asking permission. Under these circumstances』I find it difficult to concentrate on my studies.

I am sure you will agree that the only solution for me is to move into a room of my own, where I will be free from such distractions. Therefore, I would begrate if you could findasingleroomjorme,_preferablynotinjthe same.bui^ling.but.stilloncamfius.

Competition makes people original and creative. It very necessary to compete if human society wants to advance. (Even animals compete for survival.)

Without it, we would become lazy and nobody would rake any responsibility. When three monks live together, there will be no drinking water. This Chinese proverb vividly describes why China's productivity was so low before Mr Deng came to power.

At that time, we had the so-called planned economy. There was no competition at all. So neither farmers nor workers worked hard. China was on the edge of collapse. Competition can stimulate people to try their best to do anything. For example, in 100-meter race, each sportsman runs as quickly as possible, trying to win the champion. The same things happen in our society and in our daily life. If a company wants to surpass others, it must compete with them. It must raise its efficiency.

All the companies doing this will no doubt benefit the whole society and the whole human race. Being a student, I must compete with other students in our studies. I must study hard in all the fields so that I can be a useful man when I enter the society after graduation.

now more and more sons and daughters from one-child families are attending universities. they distinguish themselves as a new social group. this new generation have obvious advantages since they are brought up in favorable family circumstances. but there also exist some weaknesses in the way they think, behave, in their sentiments and in their characters.though most of these college students are intelligent and fond of study, some are comparatively less capable of handling their social and living affairs. when they meet something unexpected, they don’t know how to solve it. some, even phone home to ask what to do each time they run into any problem. they feel weak at knowing how to conduct themselves in college for this is the first time for them to live independently.

i think we should not blame all this on them. it is not their own faults to be like this because they’re inevitable products of certain times. we should sincerely help them be aware of their shortcoming and adjust themselves to college life and to the society.

為此,當(dāng)你寫(xiě)感謝信時(shí),應(yīng)這樣寫(xiě):“Thank you for your beautiful roses.”(謝謝您送的美麗的玫瑰花。);而不要籠統(tǒng)地寫(xiě)上“Thank you for your beautiful gift.”(謝謝您送給我的漂亮禮物。)

Social Practice of College Students Nowadays many universities encourage and organize students to take pa rt in social practice activities. During the holidays, more and more student s choose to [1]be the volunteers, take part-time jobs, or take part in other practical activities alike. It’s obvious that social practice is playing a more and more important role in China’s college education.

Undoubtedly, college students have [3]benefited a lot from social pra ctice. [4]Above all, they are provided with more opportunities to contact t he real world outside the campus.

Moreover, in social practice activitie s, students can [5]apply their knowledge to the solution to the practical pr oblems. So their practical skills are improved greatly. [4]Besides, social p ractice helps [6]strengthen students’sense of social responsibility.

Considering the above-mentioned, I think, it is necessary for college s tudents to participate in social practice. [4]However, social practice may bring some problems. For example, some students spend too much time i n taking part-time jobs so as to ignore their study.

Therefore, we shoul d try to [8]balance the relationship between social practice and study.
