Many students spend money in a quite extravagant way. They see things they like and they must have them, no matter how expensive: clothes, jewelry, shoes, facials, hair and nails for girls; clothes, watches, shoes and electronics for guys. It seems that many students reach university and go a little wild with all the freedom after the stress of high school.
There are two differing opinions about this phenomenon. Some feel that it is fine for students to have a little fun; after all, they can only enjoy their lives in college, since after graduation, there will be nothing but work, work, and more work. Others, however, frown on the extravagance; college is, they point out, the period when people form habits of independent living, since it is probably the first time that most children have been somewhat independent from parents.
In my opinion, we college students need to have some restraint in our spending habits. Most of us are still financially dependent on parents, but we are preparing for independence very soon. If we get used to spending extravagantly now, the adjustment to adult life will be extremely difficult.
Perhaps the most vital person I have ever met is an Italian professor of philosophy who teaches at the University of Pisa.Although I last met this man eight years ago, I have not forgotten his special qualities.
First of all,I was impressed by his devotion to teaching. Because his lectures were always well-prepared and clearly delivered, students swarmed into his classroom. His followers appreciated the fact that he believed in what he taught and that he was intellectually stimulating.Furthermore, he could be counted on to explain his ideas in an imaginative way, introducing such aids to understanding as paintings, recordings, pieces of sculpture, and guest lecturers.
Once he even sang a song in class to illustrate a point. Second, I admired the fact that he would confer with students outside of the classroom or talk with them on the telephone. Drinking coffee in the snack bar, he would easily make friends with students. Sometimes he would challenge a student to a game of chess. At other times, he would join groups to discuss subjects ranging from astronomy to scuba diving. Many young people visited him in his office for academic advice; others came to his home for social evenings.
Finally,I was attracted by his lively wit. He believed that no class hour is a success unless the students and the professor share several chuckles and at least one loud laugh.Through his sense of humor, he made learning more enjoyable and more lasting. If it is true that life makes a wise man smile and a foolish man cry, then my friend is truly a wise man. Probably the best example of his wit is this bit of wisdom with which he once ended a lecture:“It is as dangerous for man to model himself upon his invention, the machine,as it would be for God to model Himself upon His invention.”

as the water frothed,
and the sun did go,
the dark brought forth a tear,
i sat up high,
upon my rock,
no one would see me here.
when all is lost,
i stare alas,
and listen to the oceans prayer,
you must listen close,
her words are soft,
yet, they are always there.
she knows how you pain,
when the light is gone,
and the dark tells you lies,
she says to you,
that no matter what,
the sun will always rise.
and when it comes,
it pierces the horizon,
showing the dark no fear,
for the light comes every day,
each morning,
to dry up that fallen tear.
attitude to our life
i have been shocked many times by some accidents in my life through which i find human's life is like a delicate vase that will break into pieces for some unepected incidents.
one day in the summer of last year, wang, my friend, was watching a football match with his father.the match was too eciting for his father's heart to bear so he suddenly fell down to the ground for the heart attack. 120 was soon dialed but wang's father passed away at last. it was too cruel for wang to see his father die in front of him, and also too difficult for me to accept the fact, because just several hours before his death, he picked wang and me up at pu dong airport and sent us back home. at that time, he was so healthy that no one would epect that he would die a few hours later.
a few days later, i found something wrong with my body.it was a cyst as big as a coin found under my cheek. i felt very worried because, as i know, a cyst in that place was very dangerous. i was put into hospital after the doctor decided to remove it. after i entered the room of patients, i was jaw dropping because the looks of the patients were frightening, one person has a lump as big as a baseball on his face; another patient's eyes were bruised too badly to be seen and an old man's teeth had been all knocked off because the doctor would do an operation in his throat. i felt lucky and was even satisfied with my illness in this situation.
life is really precious and delicate.some people are bornblind or deaf. some pass away in a minute. some live in great pain even they are alive. we have no qualification to complain about some little unfairness in our life if we are healthy.we should care for our lives and make use of it as plentifully as possible.
1. 成功的四個(gè)步驟 four steps to a successful
four steps to a successful
the first time in life? then grasp your chance with your perfect performance on the dating night, by learning the following principle in heart.
dress properly. while everyone wants to give an impressive debut on the first date, you should avoid wearing something too bizarre to be accepted. if you are still in school, a sportswear can fulfill your purpose. for businessman or grownups, casual clothes are recommended. never put up your working uniforms,no matter how well you like that armani suit. it is no work. a few accessories such as a pair of sunglasses or silver loops on the wrist can add up to the romance sphere.
take a bath before dating. and if you like, spray a little perfume, but unless you're sure that he or she likes the smell, don't use ones that are too strong.
watch your manner. you're no prince of the scotland nor cinderella in the legend. proper manners will ensure a lasting relationship while bad ones scare away your sweetheart. and do make sure you do not boast about your fortune, for, not everyone are green addicts. and your way of smiling, or your greatestoath, should neither be "coy" nor "by st. loy!" after the nun in chaucer.
be a little sensitive than merely innocent. do make sure you do not intrude his or her privacy on the first date. for there maybe something deeply concealed within the inner core of every heart, of which the owner doesn't share often with anyone but his intimacy.
finally, wish you good luck. may you get your hearts combined and start a new journey in the miracle of life and love. stay tuned till a borderline is reached, and keep on through out the whole way.

2. 我的宿舍生活my dormitory life
my dormitory life
compared with the forty year old shabby dormitory i am living in now, the one i lived in for three years in high school was heaven: three students shared one brand new suite with air conditioners and a bathroom.
in three years time we changed it thoroughly:the color of the floor turned from bright pink into muddy gray, and the closet a hive of insects proliferating among piles of rotten fruit.and our masterpiece was the bathroom, a never drying swamp which served as the habitat of various kinds of mold, and even rodents, rats would occasionally take the trouble to pay us a visit, and.., all three of us felt like sobbing when we at last had to say good bye to our lovely filthy dormitory. maybe it is because that the dormitory had changed us as well as we'd changed it.
Thanks to burgeoning technology, the past decades have witnessed the thriving of clone technology. And its application into human has made clone reach an unprecedented peak. This marvel gives rise to much concern among scientific community. However, whether human cloning should be advocated has aroused heat argument. As far as I am concerned, the merits of human cloning outweigh its demerits. On one hand,it’s safe to say that even the best clone technology has the possibility of failure, and this truth is also publicly known by scientific researchers. Therefore, human cloning is the indulgence of this possibility.Once it fails,it will do harm to cloned men. From animal cloning experiments, the survival rate of the cloned species is very low.Unfortunately, these cloned species that have survived often have more or less some physical problems.Nowadays, many researchers have begun to clone a human being, which leads to the birth of disabled infants because of the failure of human cloning experiments. These crude phenomena leave us with a chill. They are the evidence of the crime resulting from human cloning and the trample on human life.In order to succeed, those crazy scientists cruelly kill the lives of many cloned men, which is no doubt crimes rather than researches.Do any rational persons will support a research at the cost of killing people? What is worse, result of this research will bring people with terrible disasters. This research is a kind of technological progress that will make man liable to extinction. On the other hand, even if the cloning human experiments will succeed,it will also make chaos on civil legal relationship. It’s clear that cloned men have no guardians. As is known to all, nature persons all have guardians.Who are the parents of the cloned men?In fact, cloned men can’t find their parents no matter through which experiment. They are only research results of researchers. It would be irresponsible to clone a human being, for they will become orphans thoroughly after they are born.On that circumstance, will those crazy scientists undertake the responsibility of fostering these cloned men?Perhaps no one will believe. It’s incredible to imagine that one will live a happy life that has both physical problems and lower social standing.Who will be willing to educate them?Cloned men are just victims and experimental games. Technology is a double-edged sword.Used properly,it will be advantageous to the whole society.Used improperly,it will have great negative effects. On balance I hold on the stance that the scourge of human cloning is tremendous. To sum up,this technology should be restricted and the government should take effective measures to do with it.

Want to be a small fish in a big pond or the other way round? Every graduate faces this question when starting his career. A large number of college graduates prefer to stay in big cities, which mean more experiences, more opportunities to see the big world and more space for career development. At the same time, higher salary is another temptation。
But some other graduates intend to start in small towns. Even though there may not be many big companies, they can have a quieter and less competitive life. Another reason is that they can be a big fish in a small pond. They can easily get the management’s attention and may win promotion earlier。
As far as I am concerned, I prefer to start in a metropolis like Shanghai. A good begin is half the battle, and in Shanghai I can find a job in a big company where I can meet people from different places and cultures. I will learn from them what I can not get from textbooks.
Nowadays, more and more university graduates complain that graduation does not equate to employment. They experience great difficulties finding satisfactory jobs. What is the cause of this phenomenon
In my opinion, there are four causes:
First, graduates lack experience. They spend most of their time at school studying academic subjects and lack relevant job training. Only after graduation do they realize it’s hard to find jobs.
Second, competition among graduates grows more bitter and more bitter and bitter. The supply of university graduates exceeds social demand. This results in a decreased chance for any individual graduate to find a job.
Third, some students don’t study hard. Some of them skip classes just because they have no interest in certain subjects. Some play computer games or pursue other interests. Some sleep in class or in the library. Then they leave the sheltered environment of the university campus, to discover they don’t have adequate knowledge to apply for many positions, which makes them feel lost and frustrated.
Finally, some graduates are conceited. They lack experience but ask for a high salary, which is impractical.
So, university students should try their best to change this situation. When they are in school, they should make the most of their time and put their heart into their studies. They can hold part-time jobs in their spare time to accumulate relevant work experience. They should take part in some social activities and provide themselves with special training, if possible. When they graduate and apply for jobs, they should attach more importance to accumulating experience than to their starting salary.
On University Students’ Pressure in Finding Jobs
About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after their graduation. But now, things are different. Today's university students usually have much pressure in finding fairly good jobs. They always say disappointedly that graduation means joblessness. Why nowadays university students have so much pressure in finding jobs?
In my opinion, this kind of pressure is mainly caused by three reasons. Firstly, the government is enrolling more and more university students year by year. And the growth of the students' number has surpassed that of the need of the society. So, when so many students graduate at a time, the chance of finding jobs becomes tiny. Secondly, today's university students, most of them are the "only-child", who are more mentally frail. Since they are indulged greatly at home and haven't been trained to do things on their own, once it is their turn to go out of the campus and find jobs by themselves and decide what kind of jobs to choose, they feel bewildered and don't know what to do. If their first try fails, they will be frustrated and think that it is really hard to find jobs. Thirdly, some university students are not qualified for good and challenging jobs. After entering the university, they don't study as hard as they did in high schools. They begin to sleep during the class or even be absent for classes. Some are addicted to computer games or Jin Yong's novels, or step into the two-person-world too early. Because these things have taken up so much of their time and energy, their study is neglected. After four years of university life, they haven't gained the knowledge those fairly good jobs or certain positions require.
