某英語(yǔ)雜志Talking It Over欄目刊登了這樣一封信:
Dear Maggie,
I am a high school student. I think I am old enough to deal with my own things such as making friends. But my parents don’t trust me and often read my diaries or letters from my friends without my permission. I just can’t understand them and I need your advice.
Yours,
Laura

Dear Laura,
I have to say that there must be some reasons for your parents’ behavior although it seems inappropriate.
To start with, your parents want to know what you are doing for fear that you may get into any bad habit. Secondly, they are afraid that you may fall behind in your studies if you spend too much time on other things. Finally, your little communication with them may lead to their worries.
My advice is as follows:spare some time to have a talk with your parents, so that they have chances to know what you are thinking; tell your parents about your friends, your school life; invite your friends to your home to show that they are worth making friends with; help your parents with things you can do and they will realize you are old enough to be independent of them.
Best wishes to you!
Yours,
Maggie
