　　Mary is kind and warm-hearted. When somebody in ClASS falls ill,she goes to attend to him or her. When John has troubles in his studies, Mary always helps him with his lessons. As I am not able to knit a sweater, she lends me hand in doing so. When ClASSes are over, she is always the first to clean the blackboard. When an old teacher has difficulty in walking upstairs, she goes over to support him or her. In a word, whenever she is in need, she never stand by with arms folded.

　　Although she is so fat, she is quite quick in action and full of energy. You can often see her on the playground, either playing basketball or volleyball. Sometimes, I make fun of her by saying, “You＇d better play football as a doorkeeper.” She just tolerantly laughed. It is something that I admire her because she is never in the mood of self-humiliation forher fatness.

　　事情的起因是爸爸出差到北京，給我?guī)Щ亓艘慌_讀書郎英語同步讀書機。我立刻被它漂亮的外表吸引住了，因為它像一臺高檔的筆記本電腦。打開讀書機，左邊是音標(biāo)，分為元音、輔音；右邊是26個英語字母。最大的好處是它可以下載我上課用的PEP教材。媽媽讓我打開英語課本，翻到第1頁，把讀書機中的頁碼調(diào)至相同頁碼，我再用那神奇的信號筆一點，點到哪兒，讀書機就發(fā)出標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的讀音，點第二遍時它就譯出這個單詞的中文含義，真是太神奇了！

　　剛開始幾天，我每天一放學(xué)就抱著這臺讀書郎，漸漸地新鮮勁也就過去了。媽媽看準(zhǔn)了時機，立即調(diào)動我的積極性，把老師當(dāng)天教的英語單詞分批教我，并慢慢告訴我這個字母在單詞中所發(fā)的音。這樣，日積月累，慢慢地我對有些字母的發(fā)音規(guī)律也有所掌握。正像媽媽所說的那樣，一旦你會讀準(zhǔn)這個單詞，那么這個單詞的一半已被記住，只要稍一用心，就可記住全部。媽媽告訴我：學(xué)習(xí)英語要循序漸進，因為記憶會衰減，所以學(xué)單詞時，先學(xué)一遍，過一會兒復(fù)習(xí)一遍，到第二天再復(fù)習(xí)一遍，一星期、一個月內(nèi)再次復(fù)習(xí)，這樣能把短期記憶變成長期記憶。這種方法叫作思馬德記憶。按照媽媽所說的'方法，我試了一下。哎，果真有效果！漸漸地我對背誦單詞有點竅門了。這個學(xué)期六個單元所要求的四會單詞，我全部做到了會聽、說、讀、寫。

　　因為背誦單詞有了明顯的進步，得到了老師的表揚，我的學(xué)習(xí)熱情倍增，對聽力也產(chǎn)生了興趣�，F(xiàn)在我拿到聽力課文，不象以前那樣手忙腳亂，而是先把課文、圖案看一遍。如果是選擇題，我會看清圖案，了解這幾幅圖的大致含義，再聽錄音。我現(xiàn)在能抓住幾個重點詞語與圖案進行對照，基本能做到準(zhǔn)確無誤。對閱讀也同樣，抓住幾個關(guān)鍵詞語和下面的問題進行對照。
